Default V70 R Brake conversion questions...

I need to upgrade the brakes on my 940 quite urgently as the stock stuff is on it's last legs and it makes sense to upgrade now...I was onl going to do it in the future anyway.
I thought about a 302mm V70 conversion but I know it won't give the braking power I want/ need so have decided to do a V70R conversion using brackets from Retro Turbo. I have a couple of questions.....
Is there any mods needed to the actual calipers as the 940 has trailing calipers?
Do the bleed nipples need swapping or does anything else need to be done to fit them to a 940?
Also, the kit to fit them is using standard v70R 330mm discs. will these fit under a 17" wheel or does it depend on the wheel? I suppose I could always use spacers?
Any input appreciated...

I thought they were proper Brembo calipers?

Default brembo

They are proper brembo. Do you have Polaris or FWD alloys with spacers? I think you'll be alright with most 17". Must get mine on before next year. Sorting out the hand brake will be the trickiest bit.

Surely, if you keep the original rear calipers and rotors there won't be any issue with the handbrake, as it works on a set of drums cast into the rotors?

I am thinking of going with Lenso Eagle 2 as the are a RWD ET25 good fitment, bit flat faced tough which might be an issue....

Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for calipers etc...I have not found them to be as cheap as I thought the might be...

Hi, just a few things about fitting 17" alloys. Pegasus 17" alloys will fit over R calipers as they were designed to fit. Other Volvo alloys 17" such as Comets will not as there is not enough space for the calipers. The Pegasus alloys standard fit tyres on an R are 235 wide. With 17" Pegasus alloys the wheel weights must be placed towards the inside of the alloy, otherwise they will catch on the caliper.

So, it's a tight fit with 17's?!!
If I use the above alloys and find they catch I should be able to use some spacers to make up the difference no?

Hi, sorry I've no experience using spacers or with your specific car. There could be an issue with fitting particular alloys, for example on my old facelift MY 1995 960 I could fit Classic 850/ S70/Alloys, however these alloys would not fit the previous model. Until relatively recently only the rear R Brembos have been been fitted to 850s by a few people.

Here's a link on alloy combatability:

I'm wondering what this means off the retro turbo site, re the Alfa brake conversion..

"This is excellent alternative to 4 pot S60R conversion which many times proven to be unsafe".
