Default Driver Information Module Failure

Well, I think it's happened to me.

Got in the car this morning, and the only light which came on the dash was engine management.
I've had this before a couple of times and removing/refitting dash has resolved it, so I thought it could be a loose connection on plug, but unfortunately not.

So, one question:
Do these DIMs fail suddenly or do they fail progressively? I've had an issue with the main beam indication not working, but other than that I've not had a problem. This is so sudden, it's almost like a power fail (but it's not: I've checked).

If it is a failure, then I'll get in touch with Volvo Diagnostics....my eyes aren't good enough to solder the chips.

Sounds like the typical failure. The one in my v70 failed with no warning whatsoever. Was fun driving home about 200 miles towing a trailer with no working instruments. Lukas sorted it really quickly.

I had mine go on my 03 s60 with no warning, it was working fine no problems then started the car after being shopping then all I had was the Rev counter.

I used bba reman to sort mine.

Thanks.
Well, it's all wrapped up and waiting to be picked up by Hermes to take to Lukas.

I had thought it was the typical failure, but it was so sudden and all at once, that I thought it was a power issue.
