I've run Porterfield R4 pads and R4-1 pads on the front discs of my MGA vintage racer.
Can't comment on use of either compound in drum brake applications. Not sure either is suitable for street use. I believe that you need a sense of (and to consider) the heat range to which the brakes will be exposed.
