Completely slacken off the handbrake adjuster in the center console, remove rear wheels and, using a screwdriver through the hole in the rear hub, tighten until the wheel is locked then back off until wheel rotates freely, do both sides then adjust handbrake until you get 5-6 clicks... Pretty basic stuff... |

....flat bar on the other. No handbrake adjustment at this end unless someone has retro fitted the adjuster. Which you don’t actually need if everything is maintained properly. |

Hope you didn't go out and take the wheels off just to take photo's...
My P2 must have been the change over year, it definitely had adjuster as on P1 models... Rubbish autobox though, it wouldn't reverse uphill !! |

According to the internet you can get an adjuster to replace the solid bar, one on ebay here or some references to Volvo actually supplying them so probably worth asking.
Why are we still discussing a post 2000 V70 in this section? I suppose knowledge for its own sake is a good thing.

Had this issue with newly fitted (non Volvo) brake shoes to a V70 D5 2001 MY.
Checked and tried everything (and I mean everything) to no avail. Swopped out to Volvo original parts (shoes) and problem cured. handbrake immediately worked VERY well and continues to do so. Make what you will of the above. I suggest anyone goes back to the beginning with a sound foundation. Last edited by Lancee; May 17th, 2019 at 13:14. |
