Oil Temperature Sender
I am trying to locate the above for my 1986 B230A in order that I can connect the gauge. I have a new sender that is for a 300 series but I am reliably informed that the sump drain plug on a 300 series is different to the one on my car and this is where the sender is located.
Can anybody out there help please? Regards and thanks, Roger |

The sender is located just above the alternator on the exhaust side, its a small thread something like 12mm across,
The stock sender is only good for the idiot light, it wont drive a gauge (on / off only not a variable signal) You can get an electric VDO oil pressure gauge and sender from demon tweeks for about 50 quid. If you want a stock sender let me know I can dig one out. EDIT, doh you said temp not pressure (its early) aah well, same goes for the temp gauge from DT.

Is it not the Oil Pressure sender that fit in to the side of the block, and the Oil Temp. sender replaces the sump plug ?
Cheers, Kevin. |

never heard of the drain plug thing,
I would plumb into the gallery plug at the front of the engine by the water pump.

I can confirm that the oil temp sender is effectively built into the sump plug so that the plug has a terminal on it for connection of the wire to the gauge. (The oil pressure gauge fits with a Tee adaptor to the block where the oil pressure light is fed from.) So I need a new sump plug/sender to connect the gauge to.
Pretty please! Cheers |
