Not rocket science. Car ran fine before, and it's nothing to do with PS gearbox.
You've had a bad remap and sounds like they've screwed up ecu.
It happens a lot with remaps.

thanks for your response, if Volvo determines this to be the situation - do I have a case against shark?

Consumer Rights Act 2015 act applies here.

http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-righ...mer-rights-act

The costs of the purchase and all subsequent costs resulting are down to them.

You should give them the opportunity to fix it. You have. Then email (it's then recorded) them a warning that you expect, all costs you have incurred to be refunded.

If they do not respond, quibble, offer a contribution....anything - just use the small claims court.

If they can't fix your car you can get Volvo to do it and bill shark.

I did this recently with a parts company, it was simple and easy. They have to prove they are not responsible, I'd like to see them try.

Don't be fobbed off or think it's difficult.

In answer to your question: yes.

My memory is sketchy but we've given you details of the recorded fault (fuel pressure related if I remember rightly) and you were going to get it fixed locally to you. The map was removed and the fault was still present. This suggests a hardware fault.

Naturally this starts the usual "he said she said" type of thing and then we get to here.

Basically, this post is the first I've heard of you being aggrieved at our service. You didn't mention that it was "slower than before". We didn't tell you to "change a fuel injector or something", we told you exactly the problem, the fault code from the (free) diagnostic that we did for you.

Good luck getting it fixed, and please refrain from suggesting that us carrying out our service has "destroyed your car".

Carl tried to call you earlier on your home and mobile number to no avail, please do call us back at your earliest convenience.

For those concerned about Powershift gearboxes and remaps, we've done a fair few including one used as a course car at Castle Combe race circuit. That's probably going to take a lot more hammer than any road car and with no reported issues, we're pretty confident that so long as it's done properly, it's no issue.

JulianT has it covered there.
Not sure about that response from Shark.

I've just had a quick look at that and as the service was performed on 24/08/15 I think the previous legislation would apply, but I'm not a specialist in these things as we don't often have to deal with situations like this.

Looking at it, "goods" are mentioned a lot whereas "services" aren't, so I'm not sure how that would affect things.

In short, I'm happy to assist any customer as much as I possibly can... but I can't when the first I hear about someone's negativity on an internet forum rather than a complaint by telephone call or letter to us at Shark! As Dr Evil would say... throw me a frikkin bone here!

Merry Christmas everyone, shame we're not meeting again under different circumstances

Just looking at the timeline on this:

24/08/15 perform Stage 1 remap at Shark HQ, Mansfield

16/10/15 Diagnostic performed for revs oscillating and jumping. Diagnosis given

03/11/15 Map removed pending further diagnostic work by local mechanic

6-7 weeks to notify us and bring it back but it happened 10 minutes after being remapped.

Forgive me but could we perhaps suspend the witch hunt for a while?

I'd like to thank everyone who's given me useful information. I'm going to close this thread soon as once I get a report from Volvo I believe that I will have a case against Shark. It's a shame that Shark appear to be taking a sarcastic/jokey approach to what has been an awful waste of time and money on my behalf and borderline traumatic.

Shark have a right to reply!

May I suggest that a bit more communication between the two parties away from this thread may help to resolve the issue.

I'm sorry you read my posts that way. If we'd had more communication via telephone (which we've tried today, as soon as we knew about it) then perhaps that could have been avoided?

We're open until 13:00 on Wednesday 23rd before we break up for the Christmas holiday. I await your call.
