I think it's the black colour Alex,I've experimented on mine with a waterfall grille it looked awful, yet put it on a white or red s40 and it would look good,I sprayed the chrome surround on my oem grille black and that looks good ,I think it's all to black thats the trouble nothing to break it up.

Plasti dip is highly chip and scratch resistant.

If it gets damaged, I can peel it off and redo again.

I think my main problem with the aftermarket grilles is the total lack of a badge, it needs something to break it up a bit.

Get yourself someone with a vinyl or laser cutter to make you a plastic moose head outline (in chrome if possible?) and position it to the lower right and the nonbranded grille will look pretty awesome.

That's exactly the problem! You've hit the nail on the head!

Booked in tomorrow for a service, fit s/h wiper linkage, and diagnostics to find out what's going on with the power backing off at 2800+rpm

Also checked through recent service history and seems a fair few odd bits have been replaced recently, so that's given me a little bit more peace of mind that things simply aren't likely to go wrong. However, the last service was £16.50 for 5.5L of oil, which strikes me as slightly disconcerting. They're buying in bulk, so do garages get their oil at a massive discount? Or have they used Halfords oil?

It's why Mount Vision Rider's looks good.

For the simplest option, I'd chop the 'arms' off the original Volvo swish mount, get one of these from Dave Barton mounted on the 'plinth', and refit in the n/s/lower corner. (Then again, I've got a spare swish mount from my old grille, so I can experiment.) Yellow would look great against the black car.

For a better looking option IMHO you'd want the yellow moose outline cut out on some thick vinyl and mounted straight to the grille.

For mine, I want one of the domed moose in grey, but DB don't do this one in the right size, so I'd need to find a spare 'swish' from a different car to do it, or just ask The Wife™ to make me a custom plinth. Or I could Plasti-dip dog_book's waterfall and fit something to that. Undecided.

I am thinking about fitting a letter S on the lower right of mine.

I thought that sticking on an R, or T4 would be cheesy.

I did the opposite and took my T4 off. It was the very first thing I did when I bought the car as soon as I got home.

Didnt want people knowing its a T4. That takes the fun out of things.

Yeah, design your own logo is where it's at, but I would never fit the R design badge, that's for people who like spending lots of money on brands. The rest of us spend less of it quietly on useful stuff.

Just picked up 4 new clear marker lights from the post office,

I will try and get them fitted tonight subject to the rain sodding off and get some pictures up.
