Boot won't open
Hi all,
Another boot won't open thread on my S40, only I can't figure out what the problem is.... 3 things come to mind 1 - The loom 2 - The microswitch 3 - The actuator 1 - Loom, tested voltages, all seem to be there and correct (I think). Picture below. The 12V for the actuator is there anyway, so it should work. Ruled out the loom for now 2 - Microswitch, I shorted out pins 1 and 4 on the wiring loom to the actuator which mimics the signal from the microswitch, so logically, that rules out that. Boot still didn't open. 3 - Actuator - Purchased a second hand actuator off eBay, plugged it into my loom and try unlocking/locking - Nothing, nada, zilch.... Do these voltages look correct? I've given them a wiggle whilst testing and there are no dodgy contacts (I've repaired the loom once before) So, WTF is wrong with my car?! Really out of ideas now...

Hi Funky Melon,
I suspect that this is too late but I had the same issue at different times. First time is was the loom. I pulled the rubber gaiter nearly off on the boot lid and was able to see some wires that had chafed and were not longer connected. The second time it was the microswitch. Unfortunately I can't remember whether I was able to short the pins or not, or whether I just bought a new microswitch - sorry. I would say though, Volvo wouldn't sell me the microswitch on its own so I had to buy that somewhere else. Ebay I think. Good luck... |
