Brakes First thing in the morning
Hi all anyone come across this?
First time of starting up in the day, brakes feel like there is no servo assistance. I f I wait a few minutes the assistance appears. Brake fluid levels and consistancy appear ok, there is no evidance of sticky caliper as the car rolls quite freely and the brakes do come on with enough effort. could this be a problem with thy brake servo? Any useful bits of info advice gratefully recieved. |

RE: Brakes First thing in the morning
Hi.
I recently purchased a 2000 V40 which I have now sold. On Thursday I received a letter from the main dealer I purchased it from stating that on model years 98-2000 V40 and S40s water may enter the brake vacuum pump. This could cause it to stop working, resulting in a reduction of the brake servo assistance. The brakes would then become heavy to operate. This has been noted to happen primarily at cold start. Your vehicle will need to be brought into a Volvo dealer as soon as possible for the pump to be replaced with a redesigned part free of charge. Hope this helps Roger |

Could this be condensation? Where is the water coming from? Does it say?

No it doesn’t say, just a standard recall letter.

Many Thanks the car is due for a recall and is now booked in. The dealer was apologetic that I had not been contacted with regards to the the recall. Should the owners club not have been contacted by volvo and made aware of this recall? Then they could have posted the notice.
