Default 1995 940s - Fuel Pump

Can anyone tell me if the main fuel pump on a 1995 940s Turbo is external to the fuel tank. I am getting conflicting information, that this model has both and internal and external main pump. Others are telling that it only has an internal pump.

Any advise is appreciated. Thanks in advance....

Default Fuel pump

If you have two pumps the external pump can be seen under the car, left hand side.
Hope this helps.
For the record my 940 2.3 turbo only has one, in the fuel tank mounted on the sender unit.
Good Luck

Thanks everyone. I have now established that it only has one, being internal. Before I go off and buy a pump, I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas as to why the car is not starting. There is no fuel pulse on the injector lines and I have replaced the relay (which is apparently a common fault).

Any other places to look?

Cheers

well before you buy a new pump I would lift the inspection hatch where the pump is located, unplug the connector to the pump and make sure you've got 12 volts to it

Which relay? There are two which are common failure points - the 'fuel pump/lambda probe heater' relay (the one behind the fusebox) and the 'radio interference suppression' relay - which is mounted on the nearside wing - this actually provides electrikery to the injectors.

Cheers,

Default Same problem

I have the same problem. I jumped the relay terminal 30 to 87/2 and no start. A bulb in the boot LH storage hole to the black plug black/red gives me confirmation of power with a lit bulb. The relay lid I took off and both contacts are tripping. Still no start. This in tank fuel pump job. Is it a DIY project? Seems to me it's easy to get out but not so easy to get back in. I would welcome any help anyone can give me. Thanks

I replaced the fuel pump and sender on my 940 estate a few weeks ago.It can be done but is abit of a bu**er to manipulate both in and out. If you go into the 700/900 FAQ on the home page there are some tips on how to proceed which I found useful. You should be able to confirm the part number of the sender & pump fitted to your car.Look for a label attatched to the wiring loom near the fuel tank access.
Good Luck
