Red face XC90 T6 - keeping a 7 year old healthy!?

Morning All

I'm new to the forum, first post... go easy on me

With cost of fuel now, and reading the tales of woe with regard to the T6 GM sourced transmission. I was considering selling my 2005 T6se.

Touch wood...I have had no problems (yet!). Had it for four years , just done 61k. Got a trade in price of only £6.5k !! Ouch!

Just can't justify trading out of it at that price. , it has most of the toys (Navigation, Phone, Xenons) that I would look for on any potential new car , my favourite colour etc

So, point of my post.... It needs a service, its 7 years old, what if anything should I / Can I do to try and get a few more years out of it.
Any preventative measures? I have read on here about Transmission flushes, software updates etc

What's the general wisdom? Sell whilst it's running ok with no probs or spend a few quid to keep it healthy. I would spend up to £1k at a good indy if I could
keep it going and potentially avoid an horrendous bill...

Any recommendations for Indy in East London / Essex most welcome

Many Thanks

Hi E4GUY,
Very difficult question there indeed.
From what I can gather, the early transmission failure of the GM sourced T6 is caused by the excessive loads of the twin turbo 272 Hp. power plant on that particular transmission, Therefore I don't think any preventive measures will help. However, and according to Wikipedia and other Volvo forums, it looks like the fatigue age of this tranny varies between 30 to 100K. People who rebuilt them spent between 3.5-5k reference to this forum.
I can not tell you any further. Hope that would help.
