Question 480es electric windows

Hi
New to this can anyone help? Drivers side door window on my 93 480es will not go up can hear the motor trying to raise the window ok coming down.I have changed the switch still no joy?.How easy is it for a novice to take the motor for the window out?.........Regards Chris

Its not that difficult. Once you have removed the door liner you unbolt the window and remove the motor and winding gear all in one piece. If you have got a Haynes manual or similar it guides you through the process. Go to a scrap yard and remove one. Once you have removed it test it on a battery at the scrap yard. Have a go - Its worth it. If you get stuck email me at rew@shirley2688.fsnet.co.uk and i will assist you. Default 480 winder motor

Hi my first post yes it is easy to get the motor out just be gentle when you maneouvre the window out. The problem is probably due to the wire cable getting twisted on the small winding drum. I thought I could replace the wire using universal cycle brake cable but it is just not feasible. A new winder mechanism is very expensive £220 +vat in the uk just get one from either a breaker or scrapyard.
