Default DVD Sat Nav upgrade help

Hello Everyone

I am a newbie with cars so please bear with me

Proud owner of a 2012 (facelift) XC 90 Exec

The car comes with DVD satnav and I was hoping to upgrade it with the latest maps. I have purchased the DVD set online comes with 2xDVDs and also located the DVD drive under the passenger seat.

What I am unsure of is what the upgrade process is.

Can you please guide me.

Regards
Bill

From what I remember it takes about 120 minutes altogether.

When first DVD is used for the update the process can be paused or interrupted aka you can use your SatNaV. When 2nd DVD is used you can't interrupt the update process meaning Satnav will not be usabe - you can still turn the engine off, however the satnav will resume back to the update process upon switching the engine on.

I was hoping more for a noobs guide

I can't seem to figure out how to eject the DVD that is already in there nor if there is a menu option to eject it.

There must be a Upgrade option in the satnav menu but I cant seem to figure out what it is

Regards
Bill

Ahh ok

DVD player is underneath the passenger seat. If you look at the front of it there is a flap that you press down. Once you press it down the existing DVD will pop out. Just swap the DVDs, lift the flap up and that will get the system to start the update process.

To access the cd, slide the front of the unit (under the n/s front seat) down; if the system has been updated before, there will be a disc in there that will be ejected - if the system has never been updated, it will be empty.
Put your disc 1 in the slot and slide the front of the unit up and switch the system on, then follow the instructions on screen. When I updated mine, it took nearly 3 hours but, as mikey81 has pointed out, the process can be interrupted.
There will be instructions and a progress bar displayed on the screen throughout the update process.
When the update is finished, you will be asked to put disc 1 back into the slot, and it stays there until you next update the system; it will only work if disc 1 in the slot.

The instructions are in the DVD booklet that comes with the DVDs
