RE: New Volvo Owner!
Volvo claim that the rear diff oil should not be replaced ever. You do as you like (I change mine every 60000 miles) but there is no drain plug, you'll have to open the diff up and get a new gasket.
As for the fuel filter, I have no direct experience of the inline 6 engines but I have been told that they have only one pump, the one in the tank, and that the filter is located in the engine bay, trace the pipes back from the fuel rail and you should find it. ------------------------------ 1995 Volvo 945 LPT Auto +170k 1991 Volvo 945 GL Auto +150k 1989 Volvo 765 Turbo Auto +150k 1988 Volvo 745 GL +220k |

RE: New Volvo Owner!
The pollen filter... not sure you have one. If you do, I would expect it to be underneath the plastic cover by the wipers.

RE: New Volvo Owner!
Also does anyone know if the different auto transmission mode buttons (Winter, Sport and Economy) are supposed to light up at night? Mine only light up with the orange light to highlight which one is selected at that moment....but you cannot see at night which individiual mode it is that is selected as you cannot see the letter as its not lit up.....are the bulbs blown and if so..how do I replace them.

RE: New Volvo Owner!
I would expect there to be a small bulb inside the push button, your local Volvo dealer could sell you new buttons.

Re Diff Oil draining, you only have to remove the lowest bolt. The oil drains out through the hole. No need to remove whole cover.
Hope this helps . ivor940 VOC member |

Door clicks (fixing that tomorrow)
Rattles Occasional tappet noise (going at that again tomorrow, oil first) ECT caused major havoc when it broke (first thing you should do when buying an 850) TRACS and ABS isn't working (don't care) But oh my GOD is there power in these cars (and I'm poking mine soon)...just to watch Impreza and the like drivers look in confusion as you blast off past them lol. And when you want a smooth ride...no problem! L |
