Default Cost of replacing CEM

CEM £521.0, CEM reload £29.60, sealing and pass-through Plenum box £21.30, bits and bobs total + VAT £756.46.
its not a DIY job as the CEM has to be programmed to the rest of the car electrics. Even though my car was registered in Oct 4004 according to the VIN # its a 2005 model, but as the chassis # is not on the recall list VOLVO wouldn't pay for any of the work!

Default CEM ReCall

What evidence do you have to substantiate the recall and Volvo paying for this work?

I would love to foot the bill at Volvo the car is out of warranty but a recall would alter the case.

Angry VOLVO UK no good will on CEM repalcement

Well finally got round to putting my case of the failing CEM to Volvo UK and got no where fast. It seems the units are only warrantied for 3 years and as my car was under 3 but over 60k miles last December my bill was as described above with no good will jesture. The technical note describing the fault perfectly was denied and no recall was listed for this failure. Pretty poor that a car costing what D5's cost should only have 3 year life on a non-moving part. My 13 year old Nissan hasn't seen this sort of problem. Well it appears that I will have the same bill again in 3 years time by Volvo standards. Sorry to hear of so many other variations on this theme, but like all these car manufactures they cheapen up somewhere down the line and some poor sap has to pay :-(

If it is the dash just got mine back on a 2002 s60 from Cluster repairs uk
£249 plus vat shipped back special delivery. They change everything as so much goes wrong plus 24 month Warranty.

Mine was away a week spoke to Ethan and the guys several time very helpful top service so far.

The airbag light could be something as simple as someone has removed the facia from the Aircon unit or the dash (dim) without disconnecting the battery as this will cause the srs to illuminate.

Thank you very much for posting this info, this helped me find the same problem with a "54" plate S80 D5.
I am sending CEM unit to BBA REMAN to see if they can repair it as four of the pins from the CEM socket have remained in the plug - I spoke to them on the phone & they said that they can replace the pins as long as the rest of the unit is serviceable - @ £100 plus vat & carriage I think its worth a try & wont need to be reloaded as its the cars own unit.

Skye - I worked at Loch Caron and Applecross a few years back.

I sent my DIM there, the "they pick it up" did it for me. Similar symptoms as yours, no problems since I had it back.

There is a member here who does it cheaper, but I was in a hurry and well they picked it up.

They also fix a load of other things, you will see that in the flyer they send back with it.
