I'll try again!
I attacked both my headlights today because the left and right adjusters didn't work and the up/down was questionable. I had bought a kit off FleaBay for £11, both sides , in the summer. Once stripped I realised this was a PH1 kit not PH2! DOH! Well as they're off, see what I can do. With some Gorrilla glue and some springs I sorted it. Now: From the above post i found it not necessary to mess about with the bumper bolts. Once all nuts are removed and the drivers side level adjuster rotated 90deg, the lamps WILL jiggle out from behind the bumper. Whilst out I wanted to fit some H7 LED's. 2 of the LED bulbs I had were metal fixing bases (lower power lumens) that went into dipped beam position. The higher power, (with ventilation) for main beam were plastic mounting. This meant the spring fixing wire clips would not lock into place. I saw 3 raised parts on the bulb that coincided with 3 on the lamp reflector. I filed all of these off and widened the wire tag fitting groove. Success. Yes I know, not strictly legal (no self levelling or lamp cleaning) but I will change them before ITV (MOT) in March (or maybe take a chance on the Tester). For refiting: Leave the lower inner nut off, the one behind the AirCon condensor pipe work (it's not needed) on the left lamp. The right lamp, undo the level adjuster by 90deg which allows it to pass the loom cable on the chassis, then twist it round. Beam set. LED's on dip give a beam pattern OK.
