Is that not also the case with the old system? Unless you indicate then you would still not know the plug has fallen out. This I believe is why caravaners have usually run with lights on, even before the advent of DRLs, its why I run with lights on when towing, if the forward rageing white lights disappear from view in the mirrors its time to stop and findout why.

No.. you would not get the audio tone or flashing trailer light on dash if plug fallen out telling you the lights are not working. Yes.. you would not know until to next used your indicators but think how often you use them unless, you drive a BMW .

As using DRLs what about a standard trailer you can not see any lights as they don't have front or side running lights unless above a given size
