Hi James, naturally a carburettor is prone to wear (due to old age or mileage or both) like any other component. However a special estate, badged 740 (not GL or GLE) was introduced for the 1988 model year with the B230K - this car was only available in three paint colours (2 x reds and mid blue).

N.B we've gone off subject here, but I feel this post is relevant, and the car is now sold subject to receipt of a deposit.

Is the b200E the same engine that comes in the 240 from 89-90ish? If so we've 2 in the family, the first with 324k and the second 295k, both used daily, never ever given any trouble, bar a collapsing drivers seat needed replacing on both, owned from 2/3 years old. Seems a reliable and efficient system. Not much experience with carb's bar an early 2.1 244 which never gave any trouble either.

Good work on the car sale.

Don't know what happened above? My comment with regard to the B200E is it's relative (to the B230K) lack of torque - less torque and higher up the rev range than the B230K.

Jon - I'm soooooo glad that red 740 is provisionally sold, as I was so tempted .... even though I know I shouldn't and don't need it!

Sorry was addressing your previous comment that the carb was "much less trouble than cars with fuel injection: especially the B200E" Which I haven't found to be the case.

This lovely car is still available, buyer had to pull out - at the eleventh hour - for personal reasons.

Default prices for items.

Most of the other forums I'm on (mainly skyline and motorcycle) only allow members to post anything for sale if a price is posted on the initial posting. Mainly as it stops the "how much is the car" "PM me" "how much is the car" "pm me" posts. Things tend to sell sooner when people know how much something is from the start.
With the other forums any for sale posts wivh dont have a price are deleted.
Thanks

Default Prices on car sales and descriptions.

Totally agree with having a price posted when selling a car as it immediately gives the ball park that the seller will be expecting the car to make.
Things like "first edition" seem to be gilding the Lily as there is no connection between a first edition book and a motor car and to my mind it detracts from the appeal rather than enhancing it. By all means emphasise the good points but not with trumped up descriptions.
Reminds me of a Van den Plas Allegro which was on sale for a couple of hundres pounds in poor enough condition and the seller was prepared to let the buyer's name go forward to the Van den Plas club register???
