Do a double D clutch and see if its sweet.

could be the synchromesh gear assy on 1st showing age like the rest of us?

If there was a global problem it would do it on every gear.

It's not good when a garage take 2 hours to change 2 wishbones,
i also hate breaking such news to someone, but it's my default "finger tourettes" fault...

If you do a full clutch push and release, then do your normal clutch depression then try first.

If is goes in sweet it could signify the synchromesh gear on 1st in the box worn.

Yes a pressure bleeder makes it very simple but with a helper pressing the brake pedal whilst you man the clutch bleeder, it's as simple as bleeding brakes.
I guarantee your clutch fluid will be the colour of best bitter rather than clear honey.
