would that be tying to get the oil filter off. there are different lenghts measure yours you can get them from a scappys for a tenner if you go to volvo it will be the tube and the dipstick together for a tasty sum.

I paid a fraction of that for a new dipstick from FRF volvo, Swansea

Thats Rossi!

Unfortunate thing was that price was from FRF Swansea! I work around the corner lol.

They explained that now you have to buy the "uprated" dipstick tube, o-rings and new "uprated" dipstick.

If you dont buy the tube the dipstick will be the wrong length.... Gutted!

Super Glue is holding well so far!

I have no idea but Simon (FRF SWANSEA) Said they are shorter now and having the wrong dipstick in means the level wont be accurate as the tube and stick are gauged together.

I was under the same impression as you Mike but for some reason Volvo desided there was a design flaw in thier old dipstick....

LOL no it just means that if your unfortunate enough to be in my position and snap the top off your dip stick, they no longer make the old dipsticks and instead make a new "uprated version" which is shorter.

Being shorter means the old "standard" oil dipstick tube (which the dipstick goes into) is going to be too long for the new dipstick and will not give accurate oil level readings.

You have to buy the new "uprated" shorter dipstick and the new shorter dipstick tube into the engine for the levels to be read correctly if replacing.

Sorry to confuse, but to sum up:

If you have an original dipstick -> your fine (oil levels are accurate)

If you break the dipstick -> your knackered and have to buy a new dipstick and dipstick tube and o-rings (to make readings accurate with new dipstick)
