Default Speed Sign Assist?

Today, when turning off the stop/start function, I noticed an icon to the right, which is 'Speed Sign Assist', it is not selected by default.

As I have Road Sign Recognition and have the speed limits, etc, displayed, does anyone know what this function does?
A quick search in the online Manual does not give any information, that I can see.

I did enable it, but was just doing a short trip out of town and back again and I could not see any additional information being displayed.

I think that it may link the speed limiter to the road signs

Thanks.
Never thought about the Speed Limiter, it is a function that I do not use.

Automatic Speed Limiter

This feature is called "Automatic Speed Limiter" - basically restricts the speed to what's displayed on the road signs.

It is useful if you wish to rigidly stick to speed limits, with two qualifications.

First is that it doesn't recognise signs until just after you have passed them and then needs to slow the car down, which may be a smidgin too late if the revenue collection camera vans are aiming to get as many as possible.

Second is that traffic sign recognition isn't always accurate, so while convenient, its best not to disengage brain and rely on this [or any other] auto system as if infallible.

Indeed, and speed cameras on smart motorways are located on the overhead gantry together with the speed signs so in theory (I don't know how much leeway there is) you need to be at the correct speed as you pass under the sign.
