Perhaps you need to do this to see that impact and therefore accept that the small number of infancy deaths, regrettable that they are, does not alter the fact that people are now living substantially longer than at any time in UK history.
With a population of 10,000, one in ten dying at childbirth and the other nine thousand dying at 65 gives and average lifespan of 58.5. With only one in one hundred dying at childbirth you get an average lifespan of 64.4.

"A few days".

I thought you said you understood statistics? One in ten and one in one hundred are the same no matter the size of your population. Hence the term sample.

If you're trying to lecture me on statistics, at least have a basic understanding.

In support of Prufrock the title of the thread is "Will diesel cars be worthless in 5 years?" although many of the posts are very interesting they are a bit of topic!

I understand them a lot better than you do - get the information together correctly and you will see that your numbers are rubbish.

For your argument to work there would need to be 6.5m infants dying, there are actually about 2,500

Get real and accept that you are talking bollocks.

This thread has clearly run its course and far too many reports so it's now closed.
