ABS - ??
Hiya,
Does anyone know why I don't have a warning light telling me that my abs isn't working? Coz it isn't - certainly not on the right front anyway :( The TRACS light has been on forever but I thought there was a seperate abs warning light, and if there is why isn't mine lit? Can the abs only fail on one wheel? Jim, '96 855-R (The Sliding Wardrobe) |

Hi Jim.
How do you know your ABS isn't working? If it is working the light stays off. Best way to check is when you first put the cars ignition on before starting, check that the ABS bulb lights and then goes out. If it does all is well, if not the bulb will have gone. Later, Dan. |

Hey All,
Don't forget that the ABS will only work if you use it correctly - it it comes into effect after you have started turning the steering wheel it's effects are negliable - it has to engage before turning for it to work properly - don't know if this is why our front seems to be sliding.... Good luck anyway, Stu |

Oh sod it !
I think the bulbs gone.... and the abs has packed in.... as last night whilst braking into a small flood (yeah I know...moron :( ) the right front locked completely and you could hear in digging into the tarmac :( Is it possible for just one wheel sensor to go duff as I sometimes hear the rears abs'ing when travelling HARD on gravel..... It sounds like your front sensor has gone, but as the bulb has also blown you have no way of knowing.
Change the bulb. If the ABS light comes on and stays on then the system is detecting your dodgey sensor. If the light goes out once the engine is running once you have changed the bulb then there is something else afoot or the system is working but not as you expect. I would say: Dodgey sensor and blown bulb myself. Later, Dan. |

RE: ABS - ??
Hi Stu
Just out of interest, where did u get the idea from that the steering wheel has to be turning? I have had the abs cut in and work well on a str8 line! I not too sure about whilst turning as in my old S70 T5 (b4 my mate wrote it off) i had the ABS cut in whilst turning and the car decided to go str8 on. I do know that the ABS was very sensitive on that car, I had it checked by Volvo and they said nowt was wrong with it! Anyway thats my bit! Oh sorry, didnt mention that i had just come back from a 2 week Hol in Fuerteventura :9 Martin Chadwick Bashy 98 C70 GT T5
