Could be that the old dampers were worn and not sitting at the correct ride height, although that's usually the springs job, sure you got everything back together properly?
I replaced the Nivomats on my old 850 with a kit from PFS, I couldn't afford new Nivomats, kit came with dampers, springs & top mounts.

I fitted Lesjofors lowering springs from PFS with a set of Standard shocks and adapters to the rear of mine - It lowers it to a tasteful value imo and still looks in line with the front. Handles great too! I've not touched the front, but have no intention of fitting the other set of lowering springs to it either.

Here's how it sits:

I fitted B4 shocks all round and Eibach springs to my C70 years ago.

Car sat about the same and the old suspension had around 150,000 miles on it. Once it settled after a week or so, it sat just a touch lower, bearing in mind the T5 came with lowered suspension to begin with.

When I put B6 all round and H&R springs on a few years ago on my other C70 T5, it sat higher but now having covered about another 85,000 miles, its stance is nice to look at.
