Cruise control has a mind of its own.
Hi all, on driving back from Leicester to just outside Newmarket last night, I discovered that the cruise control has begun to do its own thing, for example, I set it to 72, then if for any reason I had to brake, for things such as HGVs overtaking eachother, on pressing the switch over to the left, which should resume my speed, it's reset itself to 60, it did that a few times, then due to a diversion and so varying speeds I left the CC on but didn't press resume at any point, so imagine my surprise when it decided to suddenly resume with no input from me, I'm just chilling minding my own business, just come off the brake (foot not yet on the throttle) only for the throttle to disappear from under my foot and the car beginning to accelerate, and it took itself up to the aforementioned figure of 60mph.
Is there a way of resetting the cruise control on these in any way? Many thanks in advance

Mine also behaves strangely from time to time, I'm glad you've mentioned it as I was beginning to think I was a bit mad!
More recently I've just got in to the habit of not using the resume function, and just getting back to my desired speed and setting it again. I also sometimes find when wanting to drop down by 1mph (or increase for that matter) it's as though sometimes it ignores the request and just carries on doing whatever it's doing

It sounds worrying!
Assuming the c/c was an o/e fit to the car and nothing you've added, then perhaps there's a a wiring fault beginning somewhere? Perhaps it's an accumulation of dirt or suchlike around the pedal sensors?
