as promised earlier, some pics of the newer p2 brakes fitted to the p1!!
I did have a bit of a "moment" earlier as after I had fitted the new brakes to one side, it occurred to me that the car these came off was probably fitted with the 16" alloys as standard from Volvo and did start to panic that my wheels wouldn't fit but they did go on and as you can see by the pictures, it is a little tight but clears none the less. Part of me was actually starting to hope my wheels wouldn't fit so I could tell the Mrs that "instead of buying brand new calipers, discs & pads because these smaller ones are not available on ebay or anywhere else for that matter, it would actually be cheaper to buy myself a nice 2nd hand set of 17" alloys and tyres!!" Thankfully this was not the case and I have a little more time to save for some bigger wheels using the excuse that "the 14" spare wheel no longer fits on the car so I'll have to change my wheels and put one of my current 15" alloys in as a spare!!"

I've noticed that the caliper does look tight on 15" wheels but my phase 2 has 15" alloys as standard wheels and it looks the same.

I have replaced the bottom coolant hose today and fitted the new starter motor. Once I had removed the old hose, I offered it up to the new one and they are different shapes so I tried it in the engine bay and I am pleased to report, IT FITS!!!!!! I built the car back up and turned the key, I was expecting a bit of a fight as the car hasn't been started in nearly six months but the car gave no sign of struggle!! With about half a turn from the new starter, she burst into life like never before!! bled the coolant and left her running for a short while to pressurise and it seem at the moment that the new heater matrix is doing its job.
I am once again a happy man!! It is still going to be a week or two before I can take her out on the road but I am very nearly there!! Jobs left to do: Replace Passenger Headlight - I have decided to just replace with a standard phase 1 headlight for now just to get the car back on the road. Bleed Brakes - Need to get the air out of the system ready to try these bigger brakes out. Replace ABS Sensor - Again, leaving that job for the moment. Will be done at a later date. I am reluctant to spend any more money on the car at the moment until I know all the jobs I have done to the car have in fact worked!!

Good to hear that the car is working fine. How did you fix the hole on the heater matrix I've sent you?

I was really tempted the other day when you posted here that you fitted the console back, but then I thought you might have a heart attack.
My gf always says that I have a weird and sick sense of humour, to which I have to agree with.... It was worth a try anyway....

Well!!!!! I drove her today!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only took a short drive around the estate but it was VERY nice!!!! Haven't driven her in over 6 months and it was beautiful!! I did however notice the misfire from cold was worse than I remember and the gear stick was jumping around a lot every time I took my foot off the accelerator pedal. Any ideas???? The misfire did die down as the car got warmer and drove the way I remembered. I'm going to take her for a good blast over the mountain at the weekend to make sure all my fixes so far have worked but it is looking promising at the moment. Almost forgot, those new P2 brakes I bought from gatos, well... lets just say they took me a little by surprise when I got to the bottom of my road!! They are RAZOR sharp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After peeling my face off the windscreen, I carried on driving and taking it very easy with the brake pedal!! Thanks for those gatos, absolutely spot on!!!!!!
