Mine is on all the time - but sometimes I turn it off a few minutes before I get home to air the car out and to see if there are any leaks.
I talked to my friend recently who said he never replaced his pollen filter in 7 years and doesn't use his AC because it takes too much diesel. Ridiculous.

The drag created by open windows uses more fuel than air-con does though Bob!

Just what I was going to say. At any speed above 20mph the turbulence and drag caused by open windows results in the fuel consumption being increased by more than using the aircon full tilt on a hot day. Plus, having the windows open makes the car draughty and noisy - I'd much prefer the calm comfort of the aircon, and actually save fuel!

Stan.

It's a proven fact Bob, some Anerican aerodynamicist tested it out and proved it. Think he was American anyway.

The day is hot, the air is hot. Open the car windows and let in..........warm air 🤔. Just press the air con button folks. To have it and not use it in this weather is crazy.

To not use it in any weather is crazy! It clears the screen much faster using conditioned air than normal fresh ir in winter and also helps to minimise condensation in the car resulting in the car, carpets, upholstery etc remaining dryer and fresher for longer.

20ᵒC in Northumberland again Harvey ?

Growing up on the coast there, anything above 17 was considered a hot day followed by three days sea fog.
