I use a vent mount for my Tom Tom One V2 and have never had any issues with broken vents, vibration or anything else for that matter.
Having said that, my car is a ropey old knacker!!!

Default Thanks

@iamthestig, as you are running Sygic is your iPhone JailBroken as Sygic offers by far the best Speed Camera warning system on iPhone than any other navigation software, if you need advice on how to set this up let me know - Mike[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the offer Mike but my iPhone isn't jailbroken. Over here we also don't have fixed speed cameras. There is some live online reporting system with the latest update I downloaded a couple of days ago.

Default And another thing...

BTW. A good idea to mount a iPhone by the vent if you use Navigation software, especially in summer as the cooled air from the vent chills the unit which otherwise can get quite hot !

I like the mount on the RHS as it is simply easier to access than on the LHS (being right handed) even though connecting the charger is a bit of a pain. Instead I usually charge up my cheapie external battery and plug that in while driving (so no cables while still charging).

The iPhone holder in my earlier pictures is the one made by TomTom with the built in GPS receiver and speaker, it is intended to be attached to the windscreen via the supplied sucker but I had other ideas.

A Garmin Nuvi 310 Brodit holder combined with the Pro-Clip with a little messing around provides a very secure installation thats just to the right of the steering wheel, the mount provides a much better GPS reception than the naff receiver built in to the iPhone - Mike

Ooopps I bought one of those clips-on mounts for a TT720 in my MY2010 V70, no doubt that out of the packet it is crap, however I have made it work by looping a couple of cable ties around the back of the mount and the vanes of the air vent. It isn't pretty but it works .... which is more than I can say for the TT720 which recently went up in smoke ...

Looks like I will have to splash out on a new sat nav and when I do I'll invest in one of the Brodit mounts mentioned here !!!

Don't know if it's of any help at all but my wife uses one of the free-standing beanbag type mats that you simply stand your sat nav in. Okay, it's not exactly high-tech and may not look so good but it does work as it stays put and is dead easy to remove when you get out.
They cost about £19.99 and you can get them from Halfords, currently in the sale for £9.99.
