Spoke to Parks and they said it's sold as a kit with the tension pulleys and their cost was 162.00 pounds

I told them I'll supply the belt

Right spoke to the guy on ebay. The one for 39.99 is the right belt but I'd have to wait till Tuesday for it to arrive. Car is booked for early Wednesday, so it's cutting it a little short, so paid for special delivery.

Total for a new genuine timing belt (only) 45 quid

Nope I thought he sold the timing belt for 75.00?

Either way I've got one for 45.00, 39.00 for the belt

VVT fitted today

Car is considerably quieter than before. Still a little chatter from the engine but I heard that was normal for the p2 models

Did the VVT solenoid test and while the awful noise is no longer present there is a faint change when disconnecting and reconnecting? I was thinking it might be it operating again once connected.

Either way I've noticed pulling away the car is less hesitant and seems to have lost that awful ticking noise, although there was some present once heated.

Happy with how much quieter it is and glad I didn't let the problem worsen over time as it apparently just gets louder and louder
