Well done matey, as said its nice to see effort being put into these cars rather than breaking them up, even if it means you don't buy mine.

No worries mate, I'd rather keep mine for now rather than loose another from the road.

As a final addition to this story, i'd just like to add the benefits that have arisen from doing the work that i have done, and had done.
Travelling from My home, to my inlaws in north Wales (Mold to be specific), down to Elsmere Port to look at a house, back to the inlaws and then back home, gave an odometer mileage reading of exactly 240 miles. Having filled up the tank, from the midway point of empty to a quarter of a tank, with Shell V-Power, prior to doing this journey i now have just under 3 quarters of a tank of fuel left. In fact, the upper part of the fuel needle is just under the 3 quarter tank marking on the gauge. I would like to think that i now have an engine that is good for many, many thousands of more miles and i aim to keep it in tip top shape. I think the only thing i need to do now is to change the gearbox oil, which i will probably do this weekend weather permitting, and some new front brake discs and pads. Onwards and upwards as they say.

It is a shame you didn`t do this in the first place to avoid all this unnecessary hours of work, off the road and money down the pan! But i am pleased you succeeded.......don`t worry about thanking all those that helped you, that is why they are here on this forum! |

Just read through this great thread. Well done for persevering until you finally got to the bottom of all the problems, chomerly, and best wishes for many trouble-free miles ahead.

Wow...I somehow missed this thread throughout Aug and Sept but I have to say this has made for some seriously good morning coffee reading today. Well done persevering through that job, C. Really well done. Having been close to the point of caving and having to call for a tow, I can just imagine that that was as pretty low point during the job. Well done pulling through it. Really impressed. That some extreme DIY.
