Default Sensus is driving me mad, and had odd behaviour. Half works

The infotainment system appears to work. Scrolling is possible, but once you go into a menu, it will allow you to scroll up and down, but the select action is unavailable.

Tried a factory reset, no joy. It will literally allow selections in the first level of the menu, but when you go further in, nothing.

To me, the button clearly works, as I can get so far in, so far. Then, it's as if it no longer registers the press.

I've scoured the web, nothing. Tried the Volvo website, nothing. Been to the dealer, they look at me blank.

Is there a fix?

I would think it would be worth finding a good dealer or specialist that has the ability to carry out or ensure all the cars software is up to date. Sounds like a software issue. When was the last service at a Volvo dealer? They are supposed to update the software at every service.

Not sure on the service history, can't be too long ago.

It is my daughter's car, and she doesn't live with me. Sent her to the local Volvo dealer, and they fobbed her off a few times. I am going to drive up tomorrow and have a word. Sadly, I drive an old banger, and I can imagine I'll get ignored. Same happened at the Merc garage when I went for some parts.

Is there any way to see the software version? I imagine they charge. I have looked all over the Volvo website... Nowt.

Default Did you get it fixed?

I have a 2017 v40 and have an almost identical problem. The media and radio gradually stopped working over time. Now the infotainment system turns on, but it never connects or lets me go far into the menu without kicking me back out. It’s almost as if the computer is getting stuck.

I can’t connect my phone anymore, radio doesn’t work. But like you I can half scroll through the menus.

It’s infuriating.

Let me know if you find a fix, and I’ll let you know if I find one.
