I'm using TME ECU/Cat.- back exhaust.on USA 850 2.3 hi pressure turbo. Installed at 60,000 miles, now at 125,000. Should have done it long before. ECU hp gain IS obvious. Exh. System gain is very modest in hp claimed, but power comes in WAY faster. Mileage difference ? Not seen on my on- board computer !
Important note in this vs. boost control, via chip or otherwise. ECU mod raises low end torgue dramatically, BUT pops wastegate at shift, saving gearbox. Cheap route does NOT provide that protection !
Good idea to change gearbox juice every 25,000 and oil wvery 3,000 to 3,500. I've had Shell Rotella T diesel lube oil recommended for engine. It meets highest gas engine specs as well.
I read brake gripes in this forum. SYSTEM is fine ! But just be sure of pad maker !

PS to ensure proper operation car must have a BMW meal from time to time :9

Phil,
Don't let your lack of experience dim your view with too much skepticism. My USA 1994 850 2.3 Turbo/ automatic has CLEARLY gained from TME ECU/Exhaust. Bhp up from 222@ 5950 to 275 @6,100 torque up from 221 pouind-ft. @ 1900 to 280 @2,100, and flat from there to 6,000.
VERY simple ! ECU sets max boost at one full bar ( 14.7 psi ) vs factory 0.6 bar ( 9 psi )Exaust brings very small actual bhp gain, but spool - up is dramatically quicker. Put ECU in first ( easier than wiper blade change )Loved it. More power AND far smoother even in heavy traffic ! Then put on the TME exhaust, cat. - back. Only claimed 13 bhp more, but halfway through 1st gear launch, tires started yowling ! Exhaust difference also clearly felt past 70 mph.
Package terrorixes BMW Z3 's

How many times must I repeat that the only thing I questioned was the number of HP gained - not the quality of the product, or how much you feel a difference or anything else.

The guy simply asked "Will I notice 45HP??" - Bottom line is 45HP is 20HP more than entry level NOS conversion! The answer is he will!

I've deleted the post in the interest of a quiet life.

Phil :-(

Its little wonder this board has got so quiet of late...... I'm scared of posting in case I get the wrong answer. I don't quite know what Phil said but I'm sure he didn't ask to be dumped on.
Thanks for all the great advice in the past Phil and the rest of you :7

Lighten up guys eh?

I am inclined to agree with you, looking back over the foregoing pros & cons, that you did 'put a few peoples' pot on' with regard to the claims made by companies offering tuning products for Volvos.

May I suggest that a few of us get together as soon as you have your TME mods on board at a suitable rolling road shop and give our cars a run and get definate comparative figures.

Then, the bull**** has to stop.

I can suggest such rolling roads in either Uxbridge or Basingstoke, not too far from me who have no connection with volvo tuning, whose proprietors will give us a very good group deal and a few cups of tea.

Any interest please 'phone me at home 020 8959 3230 or work 020 8908 6030.

PS we could all turn up at the VOC performance section gathering this Saturday at Sant Pod.

I'm up for that Don....anyone else?

I tried to get my car on a 'Power run' recently but there is a Month waiting list- and I don't like the Company anyway. Wanted to see myself whether the increase was real.

I was only quoting the TME website where they claim the 295hp. With my maths that works out at a 45hp increase. Just wish I'd never mentioned it, like 'red rag to a bull'.

Be happy everyone, the suns out. :7
