OOOOOOOOOH
The latest edition of Volvo magazine just fell through the letterbox and it says:
Volvo is launching 300bhp variants of the S60 and V70, rekindling the renowned 'R' badge. These sound like fun. |

RE: OOOOOOOOOH
I suppose the question all you guys will be asking is that if it they come with 300bhp as standard, what can you really get out of one?

RE: OOOOOOOOOH
From a knowledgeable source in the US it seems not a lot more can be done.
www.conceptlabvolvo.com the cars are quite closely based on the PCC and PCC2. I've seen a few test pics of them being 'tested' (they are on the internet at some of the volvo sites I'm sure) and they do look nice..what with their 18inch standard wheels! Haldex 4wd, computery suspension, 6 speed box :) 0-60 is estimated at below 6 seconds, the S60R is meant to be a challenge to the new M3 according to this chap. But they will be retailing for around 12-15k more I THINK than a standard T5 SE version. |

Alex
According to the review on Autocar(?) the V70 actually comes fitted with 19 inch titanium wheels. I've read somewhere, cant remember where, that 0-62mph is expected at 5.2 secs. The Dealers seem to know about them and mine even offered to take a deposit to secure the first arrivals. Trouble is, at probably £40k+ still a bit out of my price range!!! Mike |

RE: OOOOOOOOOH
Thanks Mike - as far as I know the info I was quoting was based on the american version, and volvo have sometimes historically offered the US cars with 1 inch smaller wheels and higher suspension than over here - maybe thats the case (or maybe the keys are too close together on the keyboard :))
18" or 19" I'll take it!!! The only Volvo I've ever seen 19" wheels on are Pete Ms 740 and a chap from swedespeed on his S60...mmmmmmmmmmm!! Mike was it the autocar article that had the 2 spy pics, one of an S60 commenting on the size of the bloomin massive air intake, and one with the v70 towing the caravan? |
