This reminds me of Scoobynet - back in the early 2000s.
Lots of pontificating and self righteous opinions back then.
I just stick to the old 'if you haven't got anything nice to say, then don't say it' mantra.

Haha had a very real chuckle to this, fair play and more on the money than my “bellend” response

Default I’m on his side

The whole point of forums like this is that people can voice their opinion and that’s what both the OP and Familyman did.

For what it’s worth, I’m on Familyman’s side. I thoroughly fed up of whining from people who don’t like the MY22 set-up. Not liking it is absolutely fine but it really *is* a first-world problem and you really should have done your homework to understand the differences, or do something about it rather than whine.

I did exactly the same as the OP a couple of years ago with a RAV4 so I know about doing my homework. The RAV4 really was a truly awful system, it was like stepping back to Windows 95. I thought I could live with it but I really resented it so I did something about it and sold the car. Now that I have my MY22, I can honestly say that it’s a great, intuitive system. And I speak from years of assessing Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) in aircraft systems. No, it’s not perfect as there’s a lot missing but it’s very clear that there is a plan for spiral development and each software drop will keep adding new functionality.

So, stop whining, try being constructive and wait for the improvements.

Right, I’ll be back, casually looking at this website in a few weeks’ time as that’s all I can usually take after reading the many parochial views.

Well, yes and no. I always thought that the point of these forums was mainly to try and help each other.

We all have opinions. Some of them helpful and some of them not. I usually try and work to the rule that if I have something constructive to add, then I do. If I don't have anything constructive to say, then I usually try and keep it to myself.

If we go down the route of believing that the purpose of being on here is just to spout off our own opinions on everything, then the forums are going to be less useful.

And as for being parochial, well, a single make forum is unlikely to be anything other than that.

Certainly comparing one models features with another is a valid buying proposition, but the whole opening post smacks of "first world problems" and a rather vocal sense of entitlement. If this is all you have to complain about then you're doing better than a lot of people who are having to choose between eating or heating - after all, you work in IT so can doubtless afford both. In that regard I would respectfully suggest that you are the one taking the provervial.

Nothing wrong with your observations, but the manner in which you present them is quite unfortunate. Some humilty and perspective might be in order.
Well I think you've got what you asked for there. Maybe consider your tone a little more carefully in the future, for the sake of peace and harmony?

cheers

James

I think your assessment is probably pretty spot on. I’m about to take delivery of my V60 which will come with Sensus and I was a bit disappointed tbh about it as I can see they are going to slow the Sensus support to little or nothing. However having read yours and other posts about it, I am feeling less disappointed given the problems and issues with the Google OS. It is pretty bad to release a system which takes features away so they can add them in later with updates when they actually have a system that is ready to go off the shelf. I am also very suspicious that the hardware is different at all.

On the plus side though you have made me feel better about my car.

CarPlay/Android Auto
Multi-colour lighting
Car drive modes (I use Eco all the time)
The ability to review messages
The integration with iPhone is dreadful
Swapping between media and radio from the steering wheel
Cant swap between pilot assist and adaptive cruise from the steering wheel
The app doesn't have the driving journal
The app doesn't have vehicle stats like fuel or temperature
The app doesn't have tracking.

I have contacted Volvo directly about these as I think omitting certain functions all together for example the steering wheel control of cruise/pilot assist and the control of media is a step back in terms of one of Volvos core beliefs in safety. Whilst I was writing I added questions regarding improvement to the VolvoCars App and mentioned the items you listed as well as if they are going to update AAOS to version 11 soon. I think its worth contacting Volvo and firmly believe the more people that do the better. I will update when I get an answer. I should add despite the few omissions I do really like driving the XC60 MY22 its a very comfortable and quiet ride but look forward to the updates.

Well, sincere good luck with that but I think you will get in response what I once got from them when I raised an improvement *checks e-mails* blimey! 11 years ago now!

Further to your email, Volvo are constantly reviewing vehicles, and making modifications accordingly. When these modifications are made, we will take into account the feedback we have received, and also new design ideas to improve our vehicles appearance, performance or any other attribute. I have made a note of your feedback on our system and will make sure to pass these comments on to our design team for their future consideration.
