2022 V90 rear brake sensor error message
Hi folks. My car went in for it's second service on 9th February, it was collected and delivered back, keys handed over, no issues. I went out in it 20 minutes later and was presented with two warning messages (see photos). It has gone back today to be investigated and I have met with a stone wall from the dealer! Just wondered if anyone has any ideas on the cause, a few pointers/facts below:
-Car had a minor bumper scrape repair 18 months ago, rear O/S corner. -Dealer claims the parking sensor on that side is "too far in by 1.5mm" and is the cause of the issue (it has been like that for 18 months). -Dealer states the investigation and repair won't be covered by warranty due to the previous repair in this area. -The car was error-free when they collected it and had the error when delivered back. -The only thing done after the service before delivering back to me was a wash and valet. I'm an engineer and I restore classic cars so reasonably "handy", I checked the sensor wiring in the suspect corner and all is fine, yes the sensor is slightly further in but there's no damage to any brackets etc so it just looks like a slightly different tolerance. I unplugged the sensor and put it in the house on a radiator for an hour just in case water had got in but it's the same. Anyone else seen a similar error? I'm just a bit annoyed that they're trying to charge me to investigate a fault that occurred while in their custody. Thanks |

It may be a long shot, but do you have auto parking brake permanently engaged? When some idiots at QuickFit pushed my car when it was on the wheel alignment rig they introduced several parking brake, ABS, Stabilty control DTCs; I had auto parking brake on. They cleared the codes and the faults haven't re-appered and hadn't shown previously. I turned the feature off before I took it elswhere for its MOT yesterday.
I wouldn't normally let Quickfit near my car but they'd just fitted two new tyres and I didn't think that even they couldn't screw things up doing that. You live and learn! |

Thanks, but no, I don't use the auto brake function so it's unlikely to be that. It just infuriates me that the car was fine when it left me, fine during it's service but had the fault when the car was returned and the dealer has now put on their bullet-proof vest!

After a heated debate the dealer has now admitted that as the fault occurred while the car was with them, they should sort it. It’s going in next month to be sorted but I won’t be going back for the next service!
