Default Alarm system service required S80 P3 fixed.

Had the warning coming up when I switched the ignition on, the alarm was also no working.

The siren is located under the scuttle panel to the left of the battery, takes approx 15 mins to change. The fault message has gone but not checked if alarm works but sure it will.

Opened up the old siren and as well documented the battery had leaked all over the circuit board.

Cost of new unit is approx £160+vat.

Default Siren

I also had this issue on my 2009 V70 D5 , as the poster says it’s behind the firewall to the left of the battery . Took me 20 mins and job done . Cheapest new was £196 ouch ! I bought two used off eBay for £17 total with delivery and they both work so now I’ve got a spare . I will also add this part is used on Jaguar XF and Mazda , the part number is the same apart from the final two letters but they are exactly the same and the one I fitted was a Jaguar part but it’s perfect .

I may be having the beginnings of this problem on a 2008 XC70. I am getting a rapid blinking of the red dashboard light after unlocking the door from the remote fob after the car has been sitting for a while. Probably the internal battery starting to go bad, and maybe not leaking just yet. Do you by chance have that part number handy?

If the battery hasn't damaged the PCB, you could buy a battery and fit it for £10. There are videos on YouTube showing how to open the siren unit and what battery you need and how to replace it and reseal the unit.

Hi everyone. Before I risk breaking the clips of the scuttle panel, can anyone advise exactly where the siren is on a 2015 XC70 and the best way to remove the scuttle panel? I cant see it to the left (offside) of the battery, but maybe I’m missing something!

You have to take the scuttle panel off - The siren is underneath it.

There's no "best way" to remove the scuttle panel. There's clips on the driver's side wing area & the same on the passenger side. Undo those clips, then there's a tab around the brake fluid reservoir & another clip roughly around the half way mark (of the scuttle).

The clips do get brittle over time, so don't be surprised if they break or can't be reused. You can get them from Volvo though.
