Default Adding bluetooth/aux to HU603

Hi All

I have the HU603 in my early P2 and would like a cheap solution to add bluetooth and aux in. I don't want to fit an aftermarket unit as the original sounds great and I wouldn't want to fit an aftermarket unit that won't fit well and light up like a Christmas tree.

I've seen the FM transmitters and also a bluetooth cassette thingy on ebay. Does anyone have any experience with these? I don't want to shell out for a Grom unit at the moment as the car needs some other things that are higher priority.

Thanks
George

I fitted an XCarlink to my P2, that pretends to be a CD changer, but lets me use Aux-in, SD and USB for MP3s.

People also mention GROM, but I know nothing about those.

My XCarlink was 80 odd quid when I got it.

Check Yatour (cheaper) and GROM (quality).

We have an old FM transmitter, it's not terrible but you do need to find a frequency that's completely "dead". The sensitivity of our 603 is rather too good at picking up stations miles away and 0.1Mhz apart from one another, and dead spots tend to not stay dead when you get on the move.

Also it picks up whenever you're about to get a text or call (much like if you left your phone near the aerial on your hi-fi).

We did have the old wired version of the Bluetooth tape you mentioned, and that tended to be good until the wire broke so maybe a Bluetooth version would be better in that respect? Other than that though, I think the options are as above really.

For temporary use our old transmitter will do for now but I'm seriously considering a hard-wired solution in future once, as per your car, we have the mechanical priorities squared away.

After removing the HU850 unit for repair I have found an Xcarlink box connected. Any info on how to make use of this would be appreciated as when I bought the car (06 plate) this was not mentioned. Thanks in anticipation.

When I checked the website, it says the USB port is only for charging. Is there another one I am not seeing? Thanks.
