Default 340 1.4 prop shaft/cardan

Hello guys,

I'm comming from 850,s,v,c,xc70's forums.

I have a problem with a prop shaft/cardan on my 340,it needs to be replaced.

Can someone post a picture of original look of 340 1.4 prop shaft & it's components.I tried with google and i didn't had a success.

The reason i ask for a picture is that prop shaft on my car is from some other car but badly modified to fit on my car.I said badly, because i have abnormal vibrations when driving the car.I bought it with this fault and it is time for repair.

Thanks in advance,

Misha.

manual or auto?

Manual looks like http://huskyracer.50megs.com/ (go to photos>engine & build> 2nd picture from left on 3rd line down) the bottom one is 1.4 manual prop (can't link to it, as the site won't allow hot-linking). One piece aluminium prop has a bonded coupling inserted in either end and a square clamp at either end to stop it moving backwards or forwards on the splines.

Couplings look like this:

Go like this:

replacement is by obtaining a complete propshaft...

And it's probably best to ask over at www.volvo300mania.com as well.

See this post as well: http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-u...php?f=6&t=4173

Thanks guys!

Is it the same for 1.4 & 1.7 engines?I heard that it is,just need confirmation.

Does it matter is it for manual or auto transmission?

Also,is it possible to install prop shaft from 2.0 to 1.4 engine, are they different?

What is the price of this prop shaft in uk(new & used one)?

Not available new.
Used, perhaps 20 or 30 GBP for a 1.4/1.7 manual propshaft?

Just another one question....

Does prop shaft for these cars have any related components like rubber support, prop shaft bearings like old 244 had,or it is just prop shaft alone?

Just the main shaft and a square clamp block at either end as per Chris's photos.
