As Paul has said.
But as it has been standing I would add to the above list: Remove all brake pads, clean the callipers, check the pistons are free, lube and refit. Adjust the handbrake. Whilst the wheels are off, visually check all the flexible hoses and shocks for leakage. Check the suspension bushes for play - use a small pry bar to exert some pressure on them. Check all the rubber boots on the steering knuckles. Take the 'long route' to the MOT and give the brakes a regular dip on the pedal to polish the discs. Good luck with the test.

Somebody suggested using boiled linseed oil on the plastics so I bought some yesterday and tried it out today.
It's made a huge difference to the car, well worth £4.99 and dead easy to apply too.

Fitted new reversing sensors.
A bit annoyed as I had the rear bumper resprayed last year, re-assembled everything and the sensors worked fine. Then during the winter I had the dreaded constant siren as soon as reverse was selected. The sensors are original factory fit, so bought a secondhand control unit as that was the easiest thing to try and eliminate. Just the same. Ordered four new sensors from Skandix, removed bumper and sensors, sprayed up new ones and all re-fitted. I tried to carefully brush paint the sensors as I had some paint from the re-spray. It looked cr*p, so stripped the paint and started again. Flatted with 1200grit, panel wipe, two thin coats of primer, two dust coats of colour - aerosol colour matched paint - followed by two coats of clear; then 12 hours in the airing cupboard to harden. Almost perfect finish Two things to note: the Scandix sensors are exactly the same as the originals and I was pleasantly surprised how easy the old sensors come out of the bumper once that is removed and stripped - they just unclip from their holders.

After only ten months I got round to fitting the CD changer.
I thought I was going to have to do some jiggery pokery with the bracket but it looks as if it was made for the 855.

Bit of a clean today.
Not bad for 23 years old.

Replaced the PCV system on the 850 today. Lost an upper o-ring from one of the injectors, but found a suitable replacement on the mates Seat Ibiza. The job took 6.5 hours from start to finish, though this included plenty of cleaning of pipes and other bits and bobs. Still quite a bit to do on the motor. Front suspension, both rear cam seals, gearbox oil flush, brake fluid flush, rear delta link bushings and a few other minor mechanical and aesthetic things. Hope to have it all sorted by the end of next month.
