Looks great Graeme

I wonder do people modify these much? It would be great to fit a 340 drivetrain with a bit of fiddling to get it in and an F7R engine

It must be an age thing but i really like that. In the 70s my dads uncle had two of the original Dafs and i used to wonder why anybody would want one, i was primary school age at the time. Now as i push 50 they are a car i would like to try. I'm thinking a couple of spot lights and fat tyres for the rally look. Ps is it true these go as fast in reverse as they do forwards?

It is indeed true that they go as fast backwards as forwards. Not, I think, that anyone has ever been brave enough to try!

There was a vid of a Daf racing and beating a Ferrari on YouTube....going backwards.
I feel much the same, must be an age thing; I'm hankering after a rear engined Skoda like my next door neighbour had in the mid '70s. A DAF would be nice too. What I'd love to have is a DAF Pony.

Funny was watching some videos on Youtube about the Skoda works team racing and rallying in the early 80s. The last video shows a virtually bog standard 1.2 Estelle running in the RAC Rally and winning its class. Even had the standard seats still fitted. Spent loads of time driving and working on my dad's Skodas in the 80s and early 90s. Totally uncool then but great fun. Would be great to have a drive in one again. Years since I've seen one.
