Although ACF50 is not cheap, an aerosol can lasts me years !

Issues with injector connectors are not unusual for causing misfire fault codes.
I know the stuff is dear but the cheapest on ebay is just under £14, now I prefer Amazon as I sub to Prime and get free shipping but for Amazon (not a seller) to bump the price to nearly £23 is unreal wouldn't you say? Suffice to say, it will be eBay for this item, thanks for the heads up about it

Hello all,

Spent this evening on it again trying as I may to troubleshoot, tonight's job was to thoroughly reclean EGR again so it was literally spotless with the throttle body. I then recalibrate both on vida with no effect obviously.

I have attached a picture of vida on idle to see if anyone notices anything off.. only thing that seems weird to me is egr desired and egr actual seem to be apart but I dont know if this is normal or not. But like I say after cleaning it all thoroughly the miss is still there and the values on vida haven't changed .

May just book into local volvo specialist with a list of what I have done and see what they think about it .. loosing the will with it now 😕

Quote from Snap-On diagnostics bulletin:

"A fault code will be generated if the ECM’s position command and feedback position differ."

Looking at your read out, that would seem pretty conclusive.

Yes exactly that's what I thought and yet there are no fault codes for anything egr related. And when you do the manual test on vida it goes all the way from 0 to 100% which i visually watched also, so its not like its getting stuck ??

So it is present all the time but definitely seems worse when cold, if you take it for a run down the motorway or something it will get better. You will come down the slip road and pull away and think crickey its fixed itself but then a mile later it will be back again

Has your car ever suffered a leaking windscreen?

Could there be corrosion at the CEM wiring connector.

For me, knowing how fickle canbus systems are to voltage drop/resistance I would go through every connector block, one at a time checking for corrosion and/or loose connections, taking it for a drive after each and every one.

I'd start with the CEM then onto the accelerator pedal sensor, fuel pump connector, maf sensor, throttle body, egr and so on.

After that I think as you say it may be time to consult a Volvo specialist.

From a point of ignorance. Is the EGR supposed to be calibrated to match the command and the actual? If not, could it be that the output from the MAP is faulty either in its level or its connectivity? Or lastly could the stepper motor in the EGR be shot and not moving as much as the command is demanding?

Ok 37 Ruby, so I have electrical cleaned and checked the contacts to maf, egr, throttle body and main ecu under the windscreen scuttle next to the battery. Is the CEM separate to that ? Definitely more than willing to check anything at this point so you say they leak onto them, that's interesting as I say I havent had the car that long, but I did notice the other day actually I had a weird brake failure message which I have never had before, which when I read the codes was loss of contact to the brake module. I put it down to maybe the battery having dropped voltage where I'd been testing it a lot etc. But I'm interested in the sound of this CEM now, is it located somewhere different to the main ECU ?

Tatsfield, so the calibration i was talking about is something Vida automatically does if you set the routine off in the program. It moves the valve through different positions and records each stage I think. The MAP sensor is brand new on it and seems to now be reading the correct temps and pressures from what I have researched. And as for the stepper I think its OK because when you do a manual test on VIDA it goes all the way from 0 to 100, so I guess if that was wrong it wouldn't do that?
