We just use a pay as you go sim with £10 on it and set our phones to redirect to that number if we are on a long journey. other than that, we put our main sim into the slot. It's not the best solution, but what is. having said that, our '05 executive allows us to play MiniDiscs, so I'm not sure that Volvo knew exactly what they were doing when it came to this part of the design.
Although, even with all this great technology, you still have to do a few things yourself. So we load up all our important contacts onto the 2nd sim and keep it up to date when needed. Last edited by davesav; Sep 11th, 2008 at 21:41. |

I have 2 sims with Orange - one in the car and one in the phone, both have the same 4 numbers on them:
1 main phone 2 line 2 (family) 3 Fax 4 Data No extra charge for me - been an Orange customer for 15 years and a "Premier" customer the last 5 yrs. Only proviso is that I need to turn OFF thew Nokia N95 8Gb before I turn on the car... Then I simply turn the phone back on - or rather change the setting to online, when I get out of the car - NEVER miss a call and never have any probs - The extra SIM was free also. Mike |

I have a PAYG sim in mine, the interface is pure c**p, like mobiles used to be in the 90s but I like the way integrates with the SatNav and you can call destinations from the SatNav directory.

Dealer fitted a small silver bluetooth hands free unit in my XC90 free of charge when I bought it last year. Great bit of kit. The car I test drove had the car kit all fitted with the small handset on a cord for privacy.
A parrot bluetooth is really flexible and cheap these days.

I think the underlying point is "go for the bluetooth integration" - which by the way works very well.
Vodafone did do a multi-sim setup in the UK - for high use users - I know someone who had one with 4 sims - for his various vehicles. However they have now withdrawn this. The bluetooth option works very well - except for when you have 2 entries in the contact book against a single name. |

The best option (even if you have the 'comms' phone) is to get a bluetooth Parrot CK3100 or similar fitted. £250 and 1/2 a day to fit, and no more 2nd sims, transfer calls ..... all nonsense.
Mine is fitted above the audio lcd display, centered below the air vents, and doesn't look too bad. |

Pictures of Parrot CK3100
Not sure how to do pictures, but here is my XC with the parrot kit fitted. If the mobile's bluetooth is on (we leave ours on all the time), we do nothing, nothing at all to get the phone linked.
