Default missing hose

Hi all, after a recent service my V70 returned with missing hose 'A' The only thing is that a replacement hose'B' was fitted which as you might be able to tell is not original item. Can anyone shed any light on what I need to replace hose A and also where it goes to? Thanks in advance

Default missing hose

Hi,
I would deffinatley take the car back to the garage that did the service and get them to put things right, as it was them that lost hose a and put a different hose b on, and not a original.

Regards
Stuart

Awww.. what on earth have they done lol !!
The main intake hose(hose B) isn't even secured to the airflow meter that's a potential problem right away.
Hose connection (A) looks to be breather pipe size but cant see enough of the engine to determine anymore.
Pipe B is your main concern as if it comes adrift the car will run very poorly indeed.
If I put any car out like that I'd be given the boot lol

I would seriously change garages... if that's the workmanship they give.. Shocking...

Pipe A runs from the air filter to the idle air control valve. Everything will still work without it, but you'll be getting unfiltered air drawn in when idling, which runs the risk that it will eventually bugger up the IACV.

Pipe B is the main air intake from the air filter to the throttle body. Again, as it is, the car will run, but with an ill-fitting hose like that, plus the absence of the hose clip, you'll be getting unfiltered air drawn in to the throttle body. Also, because that air is by-passing the air inlet temp sensor, you run the risk of upsetting the engine management system's calculations of the inlet air mass.

This is turn could start to cause running problems, poor fuel consumption, idling problems, etc etc.

These things are pretty extreme, and you could probably run the car for a long time without any obvious problems, but to get the maximum potential life out of the engine it would make sense to restore everything to it's factory state - and then take the car to a different service garage in future.

Also, would you buy a second-hand car that appears to be as neglected as this makes your car look..............?

Cheers

Jack

Thanks for your help, have now found missing hose A tucked up underneath front of engine bay, wonder if you could offer more advice with ref to miss fitting hose B, would I be correct to say I just need a plain hose, looking on line at replacement parts some indicate hoses with other components attached?
Thanks again.

My advice would be to back to the garage who did the work on your car and tell them you want your original hose put back on the car, or them to supply you with the correct part from your local Volvo dealership.

Got a feeling that the hose they replaced was because they broke the hose in the first place, the plastic hoses to the throttle body was probably brittle.
