I will admit that replacing the festoon bulb in the interior dome light on my 140 is the one change to a LED that I can enthuse about. I got a 480 lumen 43 mm festoon bulb purchased via Amazon back in 2017 and it definitely makes it much easier to find my keys if I drop them down by the seat at night. The stock dome light was useless.
https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/w...0/post-6195769 I also have Hella H4 headlights with the optional city light and I have installed a couple of LEDs in the city light position. I run these continuously as day time running lights. The actual headlight bulb is still a conventional H4 halogen. https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/w...0/post-7126121 |

142guy;
Replacement is a simple matter with immediate and noticeable improvement when there is nothing special going on optically or electrically ...like your Interior Courtesy Light. ...but when its not a simple matter, like for instance LEDs where the emitters are nowhere near where they are supposed to be (H3 example): (Source: https://www.sw-em.com/Headlight_Note...Considerations ) ...or for instance the AMP Indicator (which needs to pass a certain magnitude of current), or Directional Indicator Pilot Light on the dashboard of an Amazon (where the Lamp is tied across R and L circuits). Here further modifications are required when changing to LEDs...and frankly I don't see the point...those bulbs are undervoltaged in service, so very rarely burn out...so where's the advantage? You are familiar with this, I'm sure, but for anyone reading along, see: https://www.sw-em.com/OR-ing%20Circu...onal_Indicator Cheers |

Indeed. That particular H3 conversion is an excellent example of why LED conversion bulbs can have a bad reputation.
