Once the glove box was out of the way it was a relatively easy fit.
Due to torrential rain and lack of cover I passed on draining coolant from engine side of bulkhead. I disconnected the pipe to the top of the valve, just a few drops of fluid; then with a bowl underneath and the air ducts out of the way I turned the valve and lower pipe and poured out about a pint of coolant, this took it below the required level. This worked fine as the pipes in situ are in good nick and didn't need replacing. Mind you I might be premature on this as I'm having elevenses waiting for rain to pass before checking the new valve doesn't leak and then refitting all the bits of trim and carpet. I'll start the aquamaster thread on a general discussion forum, look out for "suckers" or suchlike. |

Glad you sound like you've got it sorted 146ken. With my lack of mechanical knowledge to get a thank you for an orange squash bottle fix up makes me feel good.
I'm buying a valve tomorrow & will be fitting it asap, on the back of your success. The worst thing is additionally my exhaust manifold is blowing & even though I have a loan Nissan Primera from my parents sitting on my drive (I'm 33 by the way & far too old to be relying on my parents generosity) I'm still driving my 240 because the Nissan doesn't give out the right cool classic vibe, it's too boring. I figure even if it dies on me I can wait for the AA and admire how handsome it is in comparison to the modern cars streaking past me & I'm reasonably sure it won't die on me anyway. Apologies for this keyboard based outburst, it's my birthday & I've had red wine. Regards Ben |
