I have 225 tyres on mine so as you may expect, grip is increased and ride is stiffened due to the lower profile tyres (45) that the wheels need.

The tyres fit Ok on 17x7 rims??
If running 225x45 then the sidewall is the same as would be a 205x55x16..
So theory suggest that the comfort factor should be similar..

From comparing the 16's to 17 inch rims, The sidewall is smaller on the 17s and it would have to be since the rolling radis needs to be the same no matter what size of wheel you fit.

From what I have read, the smaller the sidewall height - the more you will feel the road surface bumps (if nothing else changes) since there is less tyre to soak it up.

Tyres are not bad since I get them at cost price so 4 Goodyear Eagle F1s cost me £311 for 4 to be fitted incl VAT.

Edit - the 225's are about the biggest you want to fit on the 7" rim but they do fit. Rub slightly at full lock but imo - thats worth it for the extra grip on the corners.

Hi,

Had a look at a tyre size comparison (Linky..) and the 215x45x17 has a similar tyre wall as 205x55x16.

Should be just a comfy Ryan..

really well looking at that page there is a difference in the sidewall size 4.4 and 3.8 but the correct replacement size for a 205x55x16 should be a 225x45x17 with a sidewall size of 4.0 and only a .4% difference in rolling radius

You might even be able to get away with 215x50x17 as the difference is 2.4%
Which is roughly the error on my V90 clock...

Not so long ago they were hard to find and you were lucky paying these amounts for an abused set.
Best,

Would love to know where I could get these in Holland preferably.

BTW was I on the same table as you and Ian at the BKV or have I confused you with someone else?
