if you look on ebay ... there's a bloke selling the calipers (new) for £222

he also says in the text... you can get the carriers with it for NO EXTRA COST!

that just leaves discs, pads, and hoses?

so... doable for about £350-400 plus any fitting costs...

I have read in a few places now that he doesn't have any carriers for these calipers.

I have been quoted £350 for everything from a smashed ST but a bit wary of using discs from a smashed car.

Jaff,
Did you use the Focus back plates or are you not having any?
Are the Focus rear brakes the same as ours?

the rears should be the same as a normal focus 280mm, i think the ST is 300mm. you'll probably find you'll need to do the rear pads on them before the fronts they are thinner pads and wear as fast as front pads so these days especially on estates and motorway munchers. they actually do quite a bit of braking as although they only do 15% of the total braking they apply before the front brakes to stop you flipping over on the nose lol.
the backing plates as fas ai i can see arent particularly required all they do on STs is rattle against the disc (they are the same as far as i'm aware on all models) if you look a the back plate there is a lip above the FoMoCo stap at the 12o'clock position. on the smaller 300 and 278mm dics they fall under this, on the 320 ones it does not touch the disc but runs close to it and vibrations cause it to tap on the disc. if that happens you basically just grab the lip with some grips and bend the f*cker out the way lol. or if you prefer the neater approach you can cut it off with a grinder. thats the ford fix for the rattle lol.

fitted the camber arms, a bit fiddly the bolt that hold it to the body were tight as fudge, i thought my breaker bar was going to snap, turns out they just had about a litre of thread lock on them. next tyres, got them t work just got to mount them (vredestein ultrack sesanta- awsome tyre epice in wet or dry) then hopefully pay day lol and i can complete the brake kit.

Is the suspension on the front of the Focus RS (new) the same as the Focus ST? i.e will the Brembo's from the RS fit with some work? probably not as the RS has the Revo knuckle thing.

I was really surprised how small the pads are compared to the ST calipers.

nah the RS and ST are completley different up front. the shotcks are about £200 each and the nuckles and hubs are different also they dont have brembos, they have big single piston calipers from an american SUV. Anything is possible, but as you say it would need some fabrication. You tend to find on the big brakes the pads are relatively small compared to the caliper even onthe 2 and 4 pot set ups.

I've located two full 320mm conversion sets for £200 from ST's. If anybody is interested in a set and i'm happy with the first set i will pass the details on.

Just need the braided hoses now. Where is the best place to get them?

Hi

My S40 D5 R-Design has 17" Wheels with the 320mm discs and 17" wheels.

Ive had it 8 months now and the time has come to change the springs and get it remapped.

Just treated myself to a new jack and axle stands.
