Default Damn micro fuses

A word of caution to anyone buying a Nextbase hard wire kit, neither of the wires included that piggback on a fuse are suitable for the new XC90 - imagine could be the same for all of the new models - it does not come with the micro sized fuse version, only small and standard. Now waiting for an Amazon delivery.

Mentioned it in Halfrauds whilst looking if they had micro versions, their fitter wouldn't believe me so had a look, he was surprised there were no small fuses in the boxes anywhere. Just glad I didn't pay them 30 quid to find out it wouldn't fit.

I had Nextbase 512GW fitted by dealer and had same problems with not being micro fuse connections in hard wire kit. Telephoned Nextbase and explained situation, they sent me micro connector fitment FOC. Nice to get good helpful service from someone who appreciates customer relations

How on earth do you get the fuse box cover off (the one in the passenger footwell below the glove box)? I've got the carpet pulled back but I've been trying for ages and all I've managed is to scuff my knuckles

You're not using the correct swear words

On a serious note if you do succeed please share. Fitting my dashcam is a task I must tackle when I can find the time.

This is crazy

I have the carpet pulled right back so full access to the fusebox cover is there, but I cannot figure out how to get the cover off. It looks like there is a hooked hinge arrangement at the rear (nearest the door) so it should release from the front and swing backwards but I'm putting so much force trying this I'm frightened the plastic breaks.

Volvo need their heads banging together, imagine trying to change a fuse at night by the side of the road. Absolute madness. Can anyone advise please? I really want this dashcam fitted this weekend.

Try warming the fusebox with a hairdryer, it will make the plastic box more flexible and hopefully release the catch(es) and certainly less likely to break anything.

It opens on the right side, hinged on left, there are 2 clips holding it closed, the lower is the sod to move. I ended up reaching over from drivers side, working fingers to the lower edge to open it, once open the cover can be removed.

It might be easier to run a live cable from the fuse box in the cargo area and tuck it under the trim and the plastic sill trims to the front,.

In August '16 I bought this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OPrYBWCAYc&t=983s

And installed its in our D5 V70 where it's done 18K miles

Always greets us when we start the car - in Chinese which we don't speak - but it's cute and let's us know she is on and when the GPS signal has been acquired - which is neat...

The feature we bought it for - the magnetic quick release has worked flawlessly but over time I have to admit I don't use it unless I/we are in an area we don't know.

Now thinking of adding a rear camera and will either leave this one where's it's mounted and get this one for the rear:

OR - might get this one - Front & Back 1080p Dash-Cam - (and give the DDPai to a deserving soul):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGXiXz6QXQ4&t=21s

For £100 you get both front and rear - what's there not to like..
