Also check the flywheel position sensor. You will have no HT spark if this has failed or lost its position.

Hey... Hello

The error codes from pin number 2 must be read with the engine started!

Good luck

P.S. Also, the error codes are slightly different depending on what type of governing system is applied.
Check this list for a proper diagnosis.
engine error codes, pin number 2

Are you sure that the car has an imobiliser as the starter is turning ?? I have owned a range of 400 series models over the years (2x440, 2x 460, 2 x 480) and when working on them never come across an imobiliser. My wife had a 95 440 si 1.6 and that had a none start problem that turned out to be nothing more that a damaged distrubuter cap! Having said that her replacement 440 2.0 s.i. had a none start due to the timing belt going!! Does your car have injection or a carb ?? First thing to check is the coil pack if fitted. First check for a HT output using a spare spark plug. If it is working then check the distrubuter, etc. If there is no output check the supply into the coil pack. Could be just a bad earth or broken wire. Is the car an auto ?? My wife tried to start my 460 the other week with the auto box in N and I had to explain that there is a switch on the box that prevents the engine starting unless in P. If the car has injection then it could be a faulty ecu not sending a signal to the coil pack unit ?? Hope this helps with finding the fault.

Hi, firstly, socket 2 is for the ABS, you want socket 3. the issue with the dull LED can be remedied by turning your car off, lock, then unlock using the fob, leave it off for 10 seconds, replace the lead in the ODB and test as per your user guide, viola! fault codes for your perusal.

Can you give me more info please? when you turn the car over, is it even trying to catch the ignition? I.E does it stumble and try?

If not, can you hear the fuel pump engage (dull plink followed by running noise, it's VERY quiet, so you have to listen well). If you can, or even if you're not sure, try taking one of the injectors out and turn the car over, see you have fuel spraying from the injector. If you have, then it's not a fuel line issue.

If she's catching and dropping dead straight away, check all your vacuum hoses, this means more than a visual, remove them one by one and replace as you go, cleaning the mounting surfaces, securing with zip ties when necesary. While you have them off, gently bend them to make sure you have no perferations.

IMO, get some fault codes, then it will narrow the search down by a large margin and give you somewhere to start.

Try replacing all the relays under the dashboard by the steering column. If you have a near scrapyard they will probably let you take them for free.

They are fuses mate, the relays are under the bonnet in the triangular black plastic box in the drainage trough.

The FPS can cause all sorts of faults! Check it with with 'leccy tester'. Just follow the black wire from it on the bell housing to the connector. Unplug & test, should give 220 Ohms +/- 60 IIRC.

If it's out of these parameters you can try cleaning it. It cannot be adjusted. Mine died on my old 480 & I replaced it with one from a scrappy for £10 & it was 'spot-on' at 220 Ohms

Good luck.
