Latest info on fire. It seems that mine was not a new problem. Volvo had a heat shield for B16 back in the 60's
Quote Eldon Hammond--- "This is not a new concern. My PV had a Genuine Volvo dealer installed heat shield put on at it's 6000 mile inspection in 1961!"

Your photo forced me to examine my carburetors more closely. They are as depicted in your photos with no overflow tube coming off of the top of the float bowl as on the SU H4s used in the MGA. I'll need to investigate further.

Rather than as a fire prevention device, I wonder if the heat shield wasn't installed to prevent vapor lock in the rear carb.

In any event, I suppose the moral of the story is to make sure your carbs are not leaking.

It would serve both functions.I have a lot of experience over here on hot days with fuel evaporation in rear carb.

superb work after a disaster.

It's already been said, and not wanting to teach gran to suck eggs, but don't forget to get modern spec fuel hose.

I went for the R9, also beware as lots of fake stuff on ebay so use a reputable seller.
